When we returned from Hawaii, we knew it was only going to be for a short time. Bob was going to school for six months and then we would be transferred once again. The first word that came was that we would be going to Oklahoma. So I began to pay attention to any news that involved Oklahoma. Bob wanted me to go to the University of Oklahoma and become a teacher. I began to imagine myself as an Oklahoma Sooner.
In mid-January we learned we would not be going to Oklahoma. I wasn't disappointed, it just made our move seem more distant. But a few weeks later, Bob received his orders. We were going to Millington, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis. It was then that I began to cry. I didn't want to leave home again. I cried frequently after we received our orders, almost daily. It seemed as if I were crying twenty-four hours day.
