I had always admired my Aunt Avis' nails, they were always manicured and polished. So as I became older, one of my priorities was beautiful nails, just like my Aunt Avis.
I let my nails grow very long, and always shaped them in an oval shape, which was the popular shape at that time. I would paint my nails with the latest color and then carefully allow them to dry. And I avoided anything that would break a nail. I loved my beautiful fingernails and made their upkeep a priority.
The exception to that rule was when I was angry with someone, primarily my brothers or sisters. Then my beautiful fingernails became deadly weapons. I quickly learned that if I became upset with a sibling, I could grab their arm and dig my fingernails into the skin. I quickly began bullying by using this technique. I used my fingernails as weapons often and always got my way by digging my nails into the skin.
Until one day......when I became upset with my brother Lee. I became upset with Lee, grabbed his arm and started digging in with my nails. I was shocked to suddenly find myself flat on my back on the grass. It seems my little brother Lee had been taking Judo lessons. I was his first "take-down".
This maneuver ended my career at fingernail bullying. I suddenly realized that others may do something to get even with me too.
