It didn't take long to get into our new home. We were in a military housing tract right off of the Navy base. The homes were four-plexes, and there were rows and rows of them in this housing tract. We were in a three bedroom apartment and I shared my bedroom with my sisters, Linda and Elaine. Linda and Elaine had bunk beds and they were on one side of the bed, my bed was on the other side of the room. In between our beds was a television set, so we could watch T.V. in our room if we so desired. Dressers and a closet were located on the far side of the room.
Each place had a small yard in both the front and back of the apartment. Washer and Dryers were set up on the back porch. We didn't have a clothes dryer so we used the clothesline located in the back yards.
We were happy with our new place and it didn't take us long to settle in and become comfortable.
Our new neighbors were a couple with one daughter, a beautiful young girl the same age as Linda. The girl reminded all of us of a young Elizabeth Taylor, she had the long dark hair, the beautiful eyes and there was a strong resemblance.
Behind us, in another row of apartments, lived a couple with several kids. One of the kids was developmentally disabled. She was a young red haired girl, slightly younger than myself. She immediately attached herself to me, and whenever I was out in the back yard she would come over to see me.
My next mission was to explore my surroundings, and find out what was available.
