On October 3, 1955, a new TV show began for kids. A Disney production, it aired Monday through Friday after school. It only took a few days for The Mickey Mouse Club to become the "must see" show. I would rush home every day and turn on the TV. In a few days I knew the name of every person on the show, and like most of the kids, my favorite was Annette. I thought she was beautiful and I wanted to be just like her.
One of the features on the Mickey Mouse Club was a serial called "Spin and Marty". Spin, played by a young man named Tim Considine, was very cute, or at least, I thought so. Spin and Marty was about young boys going to a working ranch during the summer. It was a popular serial and made the idea of going to a dude ranch very popular.
As for me, I fell in love with Spin, played by actor Tim Considine. I added him to my list of the boys I liked, including Little Leaguer Ronnie; Jim, the boy across the street form my Grandparents; Johnny, the boy who said "Hey Baby" and was a friend of the bully across the street, and of course, Ricky Nelson.
