My opportunity to go to Disneyland finally arrived and I was so excited. Every kid in Southern California was talking about their adventures in the Magic Kingdom. Going to Disneyland was the thing to do. The ride that all the kids were excited about was Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Other rides were popular too, of course. I really wanted to go on the Jungle Ride.
My friend Patty's family was going to Disneyland and they had invited me. Patty and I dressed alike with brown corduroy Capri pants and beige-yellow v-neck sweaters. We arrived at the theme park early that day and had our photo taken in front of the floral Mickey Mouse at the front of the park. We headed down Main Street, taking in all of the excitement. We went through the House of the Future then headed to Adventureland and went on the Jungle Ride. Next, we headed to Frontierland, where we rode the pack mules through the wild west. We went on the Mark Twain Steamboat and took the raft to Tom Sawyer's Island. Finally, we headed to Fantasyland. Patty and I were both excited to go on the Teacups. We stood in line and once the Spinning Teacups were available, we climbed in for an exciting ride.
The Teacups operate by a small wheel in the center of the Teacup. The faster the wheel is spun, the faster the Teacup turns around. After Patty and I climbed into our Teacup, several boys climbed into our Teacup with us. As soon as the Teacups started moving, the boys started spinning the inner wheel as fast as they could move it. We were spinning around very fast and I was getting very dizzy. When we finally stopped spinning, Patty and I stumbled off weaving through the crowd as we walked towards Patty's parents. We stopped to get something to eat, and after several bites, Patty promptly upchucked.
It didn't take long for Patty's parents to inform us that since Patty had become ill we would have to leave. I was so mad at the boys who had spun the Teacup! At that moment I would have pleasantly strangled each of the boys. Instead, we made the long walk back to the car and home.
