Japan is a beautiful country and we enjoyed the visual treats while there. In the springtime there were Cherry Blossoms everywhere. All of the tree's appeared to be bathed in pink blossoms. Cherry tree's were abundant and lined the streets and parks in Tokyo. It is a gorgeous sight seeing puffs of pink like cotton candy topping all of the trees within view.
Mount Fuji was clearly visible from Tokyo, a huge cone shaped mountain with snow topping it's peak. There were climbing tours available, but no one in my family was interested in climbing a mountain, especially a volcano, even though it was dormant. I loved seeing Mt. Fuji as the centerpiece of a beautiful scene whenever we traveled through the Tokyo area.
One of our trips was to see Daibutsu, The Great Buddha in Kamakura. The Great Buddha sits in the traditional Buddha pose and stands 13.35 meters high. It is a Bronze statue dating back to 1252. We were able to go inside The Buddha, and climbed up into his head and peered out of his eyes, viewing all of the tourists who were also visiting that day. We stood in front of the Buddha and had our photograph taken.
Japan is such a beautiful country. I have always had higher expectations of beauty after living in Japan.
