I had never really had much security until my Mother married Bob. Finally, I had a family. We did everything together. There were days we went to Griffith Park, we would picnic in the Angeles Forest or go to the beach. I learned how to fly a kite and collected pollywogs. My birth father's cousin, Tillie, would often go with us, as she and my Mother remained friendly. My Mother became a stay-at-home Mom, so she was suddenly available all the time. I fell in love with Bob, I couldn't have asked for a better Dad. We bonded immediately, and I'm not sure if was actually true or not, but I always believed I was his favorite, even after his own children were born. Perhaps he saw how much I needed a father figure as he stepped in and taught me about the world and helped me with my school work. I could ask him anything and he would take the time to explain it to me. I was becoming a well adjusted and happy young girl.
